Andrew & Danny along with their team welcome you to The Walton Arms.
As the only pub in the village of Altham and the present building over two hundred years old its walls hold plenty of history and could surely tell a tale or two.
The original parts of the main building started life as a coaching inn named The Black Bull with its location on what was at one time a main route between Yorkshire and Lancashire, although it is told that the site has been home to a hostelry since saxon times, when it was on the pilgrimage trail to nearby Whalley Abbey.
It is thought to have changed names in 1820 as a compliment to the then Lord of the Manor - Mr. R. T. Wroe Walton.
Today, as a team we pride ourselves on our excellent food and drink offering - with a mouth-watering selection of home-cooked traditional dishes amongst other modern favourites and a wide selection of cask, craft and branded beers, wines and spirits.
You'll easily find somewhere comfortable to relax and unwind within our walls, whether visiting on your own or with friends and family. We look forward to greeting you soon.

Dog Visitors Policy
There are a few simple rules we ask you and your dogs to follow for the safety and comfort of all visitors
-
Dogs are only allowed in the dog friendly bar areas and are not permitted in the Main Dining Room or The Barn. (Not to worry though, there are plenty of dog friendly tables available, and food is served throughout).
-
We cannot take online bookings for tables that include dogs, so please give us a call instead to avoid any paw-blems when you arrive.
-
Dogs must be well behaved and toilet trained, just like our hooman guests. If they get loud, aggressive, go to the toilet where they shouldn't or if they can't handle their drink we will unfortunately have to ask them to leave - of course this applies to their owners too!
-
Dogs must be kept on a lead and accompanied by an adult at all times - regardless of how well trained they may be. Please don't be offended when our team ask you to keep your dog on a lead - it's as much for their safety as other it is for other guests and dogs who may not be as well practiced as them.
-
Our furniture and seating is out of bounds to pooches.
-
Please be responsible and think of others, not everyone enjoys sloppy doggy kisses and mucky paw prints.
-
We take no responsibility for dogs on the premises - responsibility lies solely with the dog owner.
